Since it's a story and they want to reward their readers with a heroic save she will probably live, barely.

True, and this is what I think should happen as well, but.... I'm skeptical weather they will do it. Though he was already having health issues before he got eaten so maybe they will have the character die. I'm thinking the female teacher will die as well. Even though that seems certain they could of always had some event where they had him operate on her anyway even if the chances are nill because a chance is better then doing nothing type of a thing. At the start of this manga deaths happened faster, seems lately they have been dragging them out and adding more drama around them.

It's an easy mistake to fall into since the character is portrayed and kind of acts like a girl so if your someone that somehow missed the fact that it's a guy it would be an even easier mistake.
