My computer has been working fine until I downloaded(or tried to) a few program updates from BitComet. Now I am getting a bunch of random popups even when I am not using a browser. I downloaded Spybot but as soon as I click Fix it stops responding an I have to run a restore to fix everything that it screwed up. I have already made sure that there is no sign of the updates left on my computer and that my antiviru gives thm no access to the internet ifthey are still hidden somewhere on my system. I need help ASAP because some ofthe ads are exactly appropriate ad I'm sick of telling my mom that I'm not looking for porn on the internet

Are there any solutins that don't involve reformating. Oh yeah, I've got Windows XP.

Reformat.

Or boot into safe mode and run your antivirus. (Not sure if Spybot can run in safe mode).
Re-install Spybot and also give Ad-Aware a shot as well, but don't run them at the same time... If it is a certain ad, either post the name of it or google it to see if there is a specific fix for it.

P.S. Use uTorrent, you found out the hard way that BitComet contains spyware/adware; also BitComet is built off uTorrent.

you can always get a better antivirus program ie. avg free (it free believe it or not) and just scan your pc and make sure to update it everyfew days to prevent it from being out of date.

Also i know of this other virus that this can lead to in a very bad scenario. If you end up not being able to acsess your C:/ or what ever letter your harddrive download autorun eater, this just scans your pc looking for .ini files to delete if they are not wanted.

exactly what i was gonna say... just remove bitcomet (i used to use) and download n install utorrent there is no need to update either so nv do
edit: no need to reformat u can use system recovery checkpoint and go back b4 u updated

The most important thing to remember when you download stuff from the internet, REMEMBER to scan the files before opening them! But else, yeah, just get a better antivirus, and if you want it completely removes (If the AVG doesn't work) download Norton antivirus trail (The newest version, and yeah I know most poeple hate Norton) and go to the support section and ask for their help, they'll find and delete the virus for free! Atleast they did with me. Good luck!
