funnny thing i just upgraded my RAM this week. i bought two 1GB Sticks, and I have a problem. whenever i put both of them in, the computer either makes this weird noise, and wont boot, or it'll boot but freeze afterwords....

what am i doing wrong?

Well there could be many problems here, have you tried just putting one of them in? Testing each one out to see whether one of them is damaged? Have you checked your bios for the correct voltage and timings?

Sure your computer board can handle 2gigs? Try putting a single one in and booting. If it boots then its most likely it cant take 2gigs. Or maby you have them out in wrong, make sure there facing the right way and click into place(on most)

Heh although I was kinda assuming his motherboard is newer, since all the motherboards for the past while that have been released supported atleast 2GB of ram.

well, i did a scan with Crucial, and bought the 2 Gigs through them. cuz on the scan it told me that it could take 2GB. they are facing the right way, and it clicks into place.

right now im just using one stick. its just im gonna be pissed off, if i bought two sticks and the computer only can handle one.

hehe im running max 1gig in my HP a230n lol Im planning to build myself a new comp this year prolly lol this ones about 5-7 years old.

Try putting your 1gig and one of your old sticks in(512 maby?) and see if it works. If it doesnt then your maxed at 1gig i bet.

what do u mean by checking "bios for the correct voltage and timings" im not that computer knowledgeable.
