I have an HP laptop and a 42" LG 720P Plasma HDTV. When I bought the TV I also bought the VGA cable to connect the Laptop to the TV so I could watch anime online on the TV. It worked for a little while and I recently had to unplug all the cords and when I plugged everything back up, the connection stopped working. My TV now displays "INVALID FORMAT" when I try to use it as the monitor for my laptop.

I have tried to change settings and stuff in the Display Settings to no avail. Also, when I first connected the two (and the connection worked) I set the Laptop to turn off its screen when I was using the monitor. This creates a big problem because now every time I plug the VGA cord into the laptop the screen goes blank, making it even harder to change settings and whatnot.

I'm just frustrated as hell and need some help!

Have you tried a different cable and a different monitor?

It could be the VGA wire, or it could be a computer issue; be it a driver problem or hardware problem.

problem solved. had to do with some settings on my vid card i think... i just went around changing shit until it finally worked lol.

this thread can be closed/deleted if you want.
