what's the purpose of the PC? if it's a gaming I wouldn't choose that i7 and get the new Ahtlon II X3 435 (oc up to 3.7GHz) and with the money you save you can get newer GPU that support DirectX11 from the 5800 series check this Athlon II X3 435: AMD's Three-Core, 2.9 GHz, $87 Triple-Threat : Introduction - Review Tom's Hardware |

I always research my hardware extensively before building a new system. Look at AnandTech: your source for hardware analysis and news for good reviews comparisons and benches. I'll offer my 2 cents ![]() Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3 - I like gigabyte boards, never skimp out on a mobo >< CPU - Intel i7 860 -Nice Lynnfield is totally the way to go, if you don't know about turbo mode and the old i7 bloomfield, check anandtech. RAM - 4G Kit DDR3 1333 GSkill Ripjaws -perfect, lynnfields state 1333 for best compatibility, but I'm pretty sure they will easily run over 2000 well ><. No need for that though, 1333 is just fine and good for budget and certainly will last. GPU - 1GB 4890 HIS -sounds good, haven't read up on video cards lately. Since it looks like your going for top end, and so it will last... I'd make sure... the one you get is DX 10.1 compatible. DX 11 is still a ways off I think. HD - Seagate SATA 3.5" 1TB I've heard lots of problems with reliability of seagate SATA drives... I have to recommend this drive: Newegg.com - HITACHI 0A38016 1TB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive I bought one a few months ago and have been so happy with it. Its fast, and SUPER quiet. All the reviews are positive they seem to be very reliable. I used to never consider hitachi for a HDDs, but it seems they made a good product on this one. Its also is really cheap + Case - Aero Cool + V8 720W VX-9 Pro -Sounds good. Don't skimp on the PSU either >< the cheap ones do go bad. Optical - SATA Samsung DVDRW I have never used a Samsung drive. I've owned a few Samsung HDTVs that I have loved though.... just for the love of god stay away from Sony. I have heard not so great things about Samsung Blu ray players though :\ so I don't know. Wireless - D-Link PCI DWA-520 This is your router I assume? Or a wireless card? Either way D-Link is definitely the way to go for wireless products. Avoid Netgear and Linkysys networking products 0-0 I have had really bad experiences with those two brands, lots of them. LCD - 18.5 Acer X193HQ I really need to research monitors, I need a new one, I haven't looked at them for a long time. Tell us how you like this one, I really want a good gaming monitor preferably not a wide screen. Acer's range widely in quality so I don't know. Mouse - Gigabyte M7700 Wireless I've never used a wireless mouse I like, but I assume there is a good one out there somewhere, what have you heard about this one? Especially in relation to playing first person shooters where there can be no tolerance for lag or connection loss. Mousemat - Razer Omega Control YES, I love Razer pads--- all the way they are amazing. Headset - Plantronics Audio 370 I really need a headset I can not find one I like. Keyboard - Razer Lycosa I'll look at this one. I prefer cheap simple keyboards cause I'm pretty hard on mine ![]() They all total up to $1,473, my question to you is, Is it worth it? It sounds like your getting top of the line stuff, that sounds like a great deal for a new computer with good gear. If you have nice speakers or if that headset your using is nice than I highly recommend a Sound card other than the Mobo one. Get an HT Omega... They make excellent sound cards at great prices and there support is amazing. Stay away from creative, they do make some good cards, but they make a lot of cheap cards and there support is terrible. I'm pretty sure every time I've looked into getting a good creative card its been way over priced. Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Input Devices,Sound Cards,HT Omega A final note, if your in the US go for fed ex for shipping especially if your buying oem hardware >< UPS fails at protecting stuff in shipping. Totally worth the extra shipping charges. If you don't know fedex shipping routes are privately owned by investors who run the routes themselves, which is why they take better care of your packages. Sound cool good luck! |
