4 MB L3 cache
45nm process technology

The CPU supports DIMMs up to PC2 8500 (DDR2-1066MHz) and PC3 1333 (DDR3-1333MHz) with HyperTransport 3.0. The slot is Socket AM3 938-pin organic micro pin grid array (micro-PGA) which is backward compatible with Socket AM2.

OR

Intel Core i7 960 at 3.2GHz

IMO i like the Phenom II from the price point, but if your going to overclock them then i7 will be a better bet. Although its not much of a gain(Around .5GHz). Thats really the only thing the i7 has going for it is its higher overclock ability. Its really up to what you will use it for and how much you want to spend.

Only thing i dont like about that is no L3 cache, and for under $15 you can upgrade to the Phenom II X3 710(With 6MB of L3), and for under $27 you can get the Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition which comes unlocked.

but even without L3 cache it goes head to head with the X3 720 so still looking good for me

btw i finally got me a small upgrade for my old socket939 system now got dual core 3800+ yay and that ATi HD 4650 is nice and my brother is having fun with it hehe

lol thats good. I would just prefer L3 over no L3 for that tiny amount(Especially since both can be OC'd to over 3GHz).

Also another low price option is the Athlon II X4 620, no L3 but you have a 4th core for just $99. It can easily be OC'd to 3.25GHz on stock volts and cooler
