X-Men: First Class

The fifth film of the X-Men film series and a prequel to the first three movies. Matthew Vaughn is attached to direct, and the film is scheduled for release on June 3, 2011.

It will take place during the 1960s and will parallel the history of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. The X-Men costumes will look much more as they did in the original comics compared with the first three films, although the original team members with the exception of Beast will not appear. For most of the film Professor X will not be bald or in a wheelchair, but the reason why Xavier is later forced to use a wheelchair will be explained. The villains of the film will be the Hellfire Club. The plot is as follows:

"Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men."

Regarding the film's story, Vaughn said, "The story that Bryan Singer came up with is very, very smart ... It's very clever when you see how he has integrated the characters into the time period where the film is set. I'll put it that way. I just don't want to give it away. ... It's a very clever way of getting these characters involved in recent history, in recent world events."

After the horrible 4th film and the less than decent 3rd one im not expecting much from this one but i would like to be pleasantly surprised.

Xmen 2 was the best XD

well this is a very fast announcement of the film.. i thought making of such great films will take more than a year.. because of animation, etc.. i guess they released this to compete with "Green Lantern" movie to be released also by next year

yeah as i've heard it's in 1960 and they'll be taking some history of our world as their story.. and guess what mutants were actually with the missions haha lol.. i wonder if it's true..

anyways the original team will be there? Jean Grey also??? :hehe:

oh didnt watch that one. i heard about it but ok.

yeah try to watch it to see Wolverine/Logan's history and Stryker too.. and i guess 5th movie is really connected with the 4th one since Professor X is not in wheelchair as seen at the 4th movie's ending

i'm not excited about this one, they have been going downhill since the second. and the wolverine movie was pretty crappy. CG was terrible and the story wasn't good enough to keep me interested...not to mention the god awful ending.

well perhaps we should give this a try since it's about the who-started-it-all partners -> Professor X and Magneto
