The lifespan for an average age for a Japanese man is 78 and the average age of Japanese woman is 85. They live a long time, so having a bunch of children could easily end in overpopulation again. The poverty level of Japan is about one-fifth of the population. They need to take care of the people they have now before worrying about bring more into the world.

16-19 isn't that big of a deal. The school system is long and well long there. Plus you add in club activities and cram school and you don't really have much of a life.

I got to contemplating this topic more and thinking back when I was younger and came to realize there are a lot of discrepancies involved in this survey. If I was asked "Are you interested in sex" at that age I would give a completely different answer if I was instead asked "Are you curious about sex". The first in my mind would of implied if I said yes that means I want to go bang someone right now. Where as the second one if I answered yes at that age would of implied I am interested in it in "general". So I am really curious how they worded the questions they asked and how they were received.

On another note I'm not surprised by the difference in males and females numbers since traditionally females have usually been less interested in sex then males. I wonder if the numbers would really be "that" different if we compared them to world wide averages for the same questions.
