Canadian transgender model fires back at Miss Universe

A would-be Canadian Miss Universe contestant who was born male says the rule used to ban her should be dropped.

Jenna Talackova, 23, was kicked out of the contest last month after organisers said she did not meet the requirement of being "naturally born" female.

Miss Universe said on Monday it might allow her to compete after all, provided she met her country's "legal gender recognition requirements".

Ms Talackova, who was born male, underwent a sex change four years ago.

She previously competed in Miss International Queen, a contest for transgendered women, in Thailand.

She is a legally a woman, so she should be allowed to participate.

I think they should only allow natural born women and even those women should be 100% natural with no cosmetic surgery of ANY kind. Lets get back to what these beauty pageants should be for, the celebration of beautiful women, not the celebration of artificial women.

In all honesty what determines if one is truly female or not...

Having two 'X' chomisomes? beging capable of reproduction? having a vag and tits(small ones count right?).

Well as far as im concerned the human body is not perferct and can/does f*ck up. simply because one has 2 'x' chromisomes does not make them female, if one truly thinks they are female and have enough money to get a gender swap then by all means they should receive the same treatment as the others mong the gender they decided to switch into.

The only people who say otherwise are scared of the future and are religion lubbers.

Besides, legally what determines if one is male or female is the external genitalia and she has female genitalia so she is a woman and she should have the opportunity to compete if she wants.
