Has anyone else looked into this? ISPs in the USA to start monitoring customers’ downloads starting July 1, 2012 | dotTech Net Neutrality's Death Rattle Starts July 12 Some sources say They start cracking down July 1 others say July 12. I don't download, but I do stream and am wondering if this will effect streaming. Mostly because I don't know if their system will view streaming as downloading. |

| Ultimate Hokage | ![]() I suppose the Universe thought I was too happy today. Anyway, I knew this was coming. So far a router has done a good job in not letting my ISP restrict my downloads. But who knows how long that will last. It's so unfair and freakin' illegal and the ISPs' just bend over and take it. Bloody RIAA, they just want to kill the internet. But as for downloading vs. streaming - it's the same thing. That's why they shut down Megaupload so completely since it hosted files both ways. When you're streaming you're just downloading bits at a time and your computer isn't saving it. They'll also be monitoring for specific sites. Some torrent programs now let you encrypt outgoing protocols so they can't track you. And you can always switch to using a VPN and go dark net. Don't let the bastards get you down, switch to a router and just see what happens. If you live in the U.S. write to your congressman and Senate representative about the invasion of your privacy! Sue the bastards! Last edited by wicked_liz; 07-04-2012 at 12:40 AM. |
