omg........this is the best anime ever.......not to take any credit away from the ending because it was fantastic if you pay attention that is lol......but i wanted another season i dont know wat to do with my life now.....wow.....this anime was....just amazing

After reading the comments on this episode after watching the end and rewatching the same moment Elen and Reiji died I must admit with those who say that Elen killed Reiji. It is, after rewatching it a few times, obvious she shot Reiji. The holster of the bullet was lying in the grass next to the purple flowers, which made her the only one that could have shot Reiji. Reiji his last moment when the cart passed him, he smiled, because he saw her true smile while pulling the trigger (I assume she already ate the petal of the flower and showed her true smile while watching at him and at the same time she shot him) that's why his smile without open mouth changed to a smile with open mouth, he was surprised yet happy he saw her true smile and that she shot him, or something like that. Reiji also would've noticed it if the dude in the cart was going to assasinate him, if you think about the girl that tried to do a back-attack with her schoolback he also noticed it and acted imideatly. This is ofcourse what I assume.

First the ending seemed lame to me, cause I didn't understand it really. Yet at this same time I still thought it was reasonable why they died, cause of their Karma. But ofcourse after reading the comments I've started rewatching the moment, and made it clear that Elen was the cause for both deaths, which made the ending simply great, cause it was the thing they both wanted to happen in the whole series. They wanted to die so they would've been freed from that Dark and rotten world. But what made it great is that they were at their happiest moments. She had a dear someone and regained her memory's and he finally fulfilled a promise with someone.

Ofcourse there are many other ways to explain why she did it that way. I'd say watch the anime from ep 1-26 a 2nd or maybe 3rd time without any breaks (atleast not breaks that last for longer than a day or 2) It's possible to understand the ending even better then, because you can remember the lines they've said more clearly. And probably would make the ending more understandable.

Its a simple mob ending.
The head of inferno explains it quite well, the young try to make new ways but you can never forget the old ways. Sooooo since Reiji Gets 'Whacked'(america mafia term) but not Elen since 1. Elen was never part of Inferno Officially, she was just the Scythe Masters Tool(like a mobster with a really kool weapon) and 2. Reiji was an Actual Working member of Inferno for a good couple years but betrayed/Ran from them. And it doesnt matter who it is, if you have ur guard down you can easily be killed by a anyone, even a old man on a cart in the middle of the grasslands of Mongolia 6 months later.lol and Elen doesnt react since she is enjoying herself in the grassy fields in a hill below reiji and the assasin uses a silencer. So she if one of those Stylish Scene play endings. This shud answer some questions.
takes a mature mind and watching a lot of mafia movies to be able to realli grasp the ending ;)

I know you all wantering what hapened and if you read all the posts till mine i think ill reward you by telling you what "realy" hapened.First of all Reiji didnt killed himself cause 1off his hands was on his pocket and the other on a plain sight all the time,that made the most of you think Ellen was the 1 that killed him which is also whrong cause as the Master sayed "you cant kill me cause im not a threat to you,if you do you will fall to darknes" but she did pushed her self to kill him cause she hated him so much she colapsed after she did,theres no way in hell she had the strenght to do the same to some1 she loves to the point that its the only reason she leaves for SHE HAD NO REASON TO KILL HIM.

Now we come to the point the random bad guy says to the inferno leader that both Scythe Master his phandoms are dead and asks how the inferno should handle it(pay attention now)the leader says that the youngs(Reinji ellen)are the ones that can destroy old systems(Inferno/Scythe Master) and can create new ones.After that he says that even if its just a fleeting dream(he refers to the posibility reiji ellen to destroy inferno) we have thinks we must do(to stop that threat = kill them).

Now the reason all this posts draged so long its realy simple...you just dont want to believe they did got assasinate,first was Reiji by the cart guy and the secont was Ellen when she heard reiji fall dawn and turned.Reiji wound didnt killed him instantly(he took 5-6 seconts to fall down) that can make as believe by the time ellen turned and looked him he was still alive(we stop to hear the cart move now assuming the assasin targets ellen) end the reason she smiled to renji that time was because she wanted to show him she got no regrets(japanesse philosophy proly cause ive seen huntrents of anime heros smille before they die) and the siple reason you dont see any blood on her is because its the anime policy the main characters not to bleed(that ruins the beauty of the scene)like Cal's death ech. thats why they saw us her soules eyes and the caliber of the bullet next to her(just put 1 more gunshot after she turns around and you will understand,director didnt put it instead he made her disapear thats what confuzed every1).

My opinion is that it was a gr8 anime whith a briliand ending,they main characters died the same time the discovered true hapinesh making every1 go mad(including me),i know what the director did was cruel and i prefered the both lived hapily ever after but...they just didnt and thats how the anime's creator wanted to end.....1 last think....for god's shake she didnt ate the flower....if she was she would had sayed itadakimasu (sayed in japan before meals) first...lol

definitely had to see it coming thou.. they couldnt live such a peaceful life after especially because their reasons for sticking around were no longer valid..

once you start living like a tool... you'll be thrown away like a tool once u've served your purpose...

To keep everyone from asking. The ending was horible...Great series but no good ending.. The creators wants us to make our theory on the ending which makes it bad for the viewers...next time try not to make a hanging ending or else (YOU) the makers of phantom of requiem will never understand a precise ending of a true anime.

I dont even care how they died in the end. That was the best way Ein and Reiji could die, in there happiest moment, plus theres no way they would have been able to stay hidden forever. Great end to a spectacular anime. I give this anime a thumbs up, A , and a gold star sticker LOL

Awesome ending and to me after seeing her smile i think he shot himself. and then she ate the poisonous flower so they could die together almost romeo and juliet style. but his is definitely goin in one of my top 5's
