I watched code geass after more traditional shonen anime (Bleach, full metal alchemist) and was very suprised by it’s quality. The show succesully wield elements of the shonen genre with the complex protagonist of death note. As it blends the genre of mecha with perosnnal conflicts you begin to become enrapt with it.

The character introduced manages to become fully realised 3D figures. Leoluch, the protagonist becomes much more villanious as the show progress showing how his disere to portect his sister is conflicting with his manipulative and power seeking other half. Suzaku on the othe rhands obedience to the rules and desire to enact internal conflicts is played in contrast to his past. We can aslo see the clear development of these characters as the anime forces to ask us is external or internal change better?

Clamp produced the characters and this does show in the Noodle style of character design. The facial expression can be over the top as well as ridicoulous outfits. The overacting can be irrating as well

Apart from thses minor faults Geass is a top quality anime and I strongly recommend it..
