Amazing Anime!!
100%
I can’t believe it is done now. What a fabulous roller coaster of an anime this was. Hazuki is in love with a pretty flower shop keeper, so much so he buys little plants here and there just to see her. One day, she needs extra help, he applies for the job, and bingo, now he works for her part-time. Slowly, he starts to court her, and Rokka slowly falls for him, sort of. The memory of her dead husband, her first and only love, keeps her from making that move from friend to lover. She just can’t decide. What she doesn’t know is that her husband’s ghost is hanging around the store, and that Hazuki can see him. This starts an interesting love triangle: Hazuki, who is alive and loves her; Shimao who is pretty much dead, but doesn’t want to give up on her; and Rokka, who can’t decide whether to remain faithful to her very dead husband, or to love/live again with Hazuki. Guilt is her middle name!!
Of course, conflict is always needed, and one night, when Hazuki, frustrated over Rokka’s indecision, drinks a bit too much… well, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. I guess you will have to watch and see it for yourself.
Overall, this is an anime with simple animation, feels like a moving watercolor. Effort is paid on the details, and softness of the animation, and the many subliminal messages sent via the animation [and songs]. The plot is very solid, the themes are very mature/adult [Naruto fans, this is not for you!], and the emotions are very strong. I was on the edge of my seat week after week, waiting to see what would happen, hoping, wishing, cursing under my breath. Very well done, indeed!!
