I have not actually seen the first Hunter X Hunter however as far as my knowledge goes of remakes, it follows the original manga. This means that the first Hunter X Hunter followed the manga to a certain point, then wondered of in its own path and the remake actually follows the manga to the end. Like I mentioned earlier I have not actually seen the original animation but the purpose of a remake is to follow the actual storyline. This happened in Full Metal Alchemist and later the remake followed the actual story line and also in Soul Eater, however there has not been a remake made but soon hopefully :). This is also why the anime is so fast pace as claimed by viewers who have seen the previous version, it is supposed to skim through the parts that appeared in the previous version and really start where it wondered off. Despite the fact that I have not actually seen the older version I believe that this one will be much better and I can honestly say that the episodes out so far have got me hooked! I cannot wait to see how this anime will turn out and I recommend it to everyone!
