At the time of writing this review, there are 10 episodes into the anime:

This is, no doubt, a great anime and it has a lot of potential.  The story is very strong and the way that they executed the story is ingenious.  The interesting part about how the story is told is that aside from the "quest-type" thing that many animes do, and indeed this one does as well, the story also follows the new king of Roland, whose goal is to make his country a better place to live.  The perspective of the king trying to settle into his position adds a much darker perspective to the story as a whole than the typical happy-go-lucky adventurer on a quest to find the holy grail.

The characters of the anime are, overall, very well done characters.  Most of the characters are likable and reasonable, as well as very unique.  My only complaint about the characters, and really my only complaint about the anime as a whole, is that the female lead character is a complete [profanity].  I’m not sure why a lot of animes like to make such grotesque female characters, but I guess some people find that kind of thing… funny?  I dunno.  But there you go, those are my impressions of the series so far.
