Don’t be fooled entirely by the first few episodes… NHK definitely has very serious elements to it while being comical.

Satou lives as a college drop-out hikikomori, shut in his apartment all the time, relying on allowance money from his parents. He meets and befriends his neighbor, Yamazaki, who is an obsessed otaku. The two of them work together to develop a successful galge because they wanted to show up everyone who looked down on them. In the meantime, Satou also meets Misaki, a mysterious girl who doesn’t reveal her intentions. She tells him she will help cure him of his hikikomori ways. He skeptically agrees to follow her "project".

As time continues, Satou experiences many hardships and heartbreaks. His story is realistic and sad, but ultimately uplifting. This is definitely a show to watch, since it has everything!
