Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee
The stars are twinkling. This is a place of perpetual night, a land called Amberground. There are civil servants who travel through this region of unending darkness, where light does not reach. The people have entrusted them with their ?hearts?. Their job is to deliver, to deliver letters.
?Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee? is the story of Lag Seeing, a young Letter Bee (Mail Person), and his Dingo (Bodyguard) Niche. Together they travel throughout the vast land of Amberground delivering mail. I know, it sounds a little lame right? Don?t let the fact that this anime is about the postal service hold you back, it?s a pretty solid anime.
The animation is fantastic, it has a Disney-esque whimsicality, yet the lighting effects of a perpetually dark environment provide for some of the coolest scenes I?ve seen in a while. Something about it seems reminiscent of FMA, with a .//Hack look to it. The .//Hack feel comes mostly from the Letter Bee uniform, which looks like it could have been completely ripped off from the ./Hack series.
I love an anime that invokes emotion, and not enough do. This certainly doesn?t fall short in that department. The plot unfolded in the first three episodes (2 episodes, plus episode #0, which I wouldn?t recommend watching, as it spoils episodes #1 and #2) is far richer than many anime deliver in an entire season. Each character has their own goals and ambitions, which provides for very likable and relatable characters.
The series is only a couple episodes in, so a full review is obviously impossible, but as of now I am without a doubt seeing this as force to be reckoned with as far as new fall anime lineups go. Give it a shot, you?ll be glad you did.
