Description: Sakai Yuuji, a high school student who expected his normal life to last forever, is dead. When he was on his way home he witnessed a shocking view as the world suddenly froze: people were engulfed by blue flames and a monster resembling a large doll swallowed them. Just as the monster prepared to consume Yuuji, a sword-wielding girl in black attire with flaming red eyes and hair that burns like embers saved him from the monster. The girl called herself a "Flame Haze" who hunts the "Guze no Tomogara", creatures from another world. As Yuuji noticed a blue flame in his chest, she called him a "Torch", a temporary replacement, saying that the "real" Yuuji's existence had already ended. Unfazed, Yuuji befriended the strange girl, named her "Shana", and joined her fight against Tomogara and other Flame Hazes.

I thought I’d give this a review, since this actually is one of my top animes.
Imagine yourself living your life, going to school just like every other time, then the world around you completely stops and you’re thrown into a world you never knew existed. What’s more, you’re told that you’re already dead, and what’s left is only an "item".
The whole series begins like this, where the main character gets a whole new world thrown upon him. The way they executed the start of this series is really stunning, and instantly glues you to your chair. The story is about a girl with blazing, red hair and eyes that appears in front of Sakai Yuuji, our protagonist. She is known as a flame haze. She tells Yuuji that he is a torch, a subtitute to a person that’ve died in one of these strange, red worlds. These torches are like real torches, with a fire inside them, and as soon as they disappear, the person will cease from existence, leaving no signs at all. Imagine a world you’ve lived in for god knows how long, and then someone you’ve never met before comes right in front of you, and tells you that no one will ever remember you. As Yuuji devours the truth, he does what he can to leave some kind of sign that he has existed. Though the story never follows the story you think it will. There are more to this than just what you see from the beginning, and as the story continues, all characters, and I mean all, starts developing their own personalities, traits and habits, making each and every one of them so loveable. Add in a touch of humor, love and tsundere action, you get the awesome mix that is Shakugan no Shana!.
