The first thing that I thought when I saw this new Anime series was this: "YEAH, they are making a new season of Eureka Seven! Hopefully this will make up for the terrible ending of season 1…"

But after viewing 5 episodes and waiting for the story to catch my interest, I am left out in the cold. Although there are a few things connecting Astral Ocean with the original series, like the IFO’s (especially the Nirvash), scub coral and the fact that Ao is Eureka’s son, I don’t feel a connection with the main series at all. The scub coral that surrounded earth in the main series are all gone, along with the LFO’s, towers and epic battleships.

It just feels as if AO is set in an entirely different universe, an universe more similiar to ours.

I just hope that AO will come up with answers that tie Eureka Seven with E7: Astral Ocean together, because if they don’t I am afraid it will be a waste of such a great opportunity to continue the anime called Eureka Seven, and not just a random story with the E7 mark on it to draw viewers.
