They call themselves the Metal Age because that is the age we are in right now.. The metal age... The age that the show takes place is in the carbon age.. With Carbon Fibers and a whole new type of global economy.. Metal age disagrees with pretty much everything the Carbon age decided on.. Hens changing the economy changing Japan and building Atlas so on and so on.. But i dont quite understand why there against the greener planet part.. Because think about it.. If all they want is to be free and have a safe enviremont to grow up.. Then wouldn't the Carbon ages ideas for improving carbon dioxide levels be good? Well whatever.. Hope that answered your question..

I think they refer to themselves as "metal-age" because the people not living in Atlas are the ones still living in the supposed metal age. They have to burn wood for electricity etc. etc.

Another thing I just thought of: Wouldn't we be in the "plastics-age" right now? Lots of the stuff we make is petroleum based polycarbonate or uses some variation of that form. Therefore wouldn't metal-age be the age before industrialization where mainly the strongest or most useful object for making tools would be metal.

I don't think they necessarily disagree with the carbon age's ideals for a greener planet. I think one of the sub themes of this anime is in conjuncture to our world right now.

They are actually thinking of making a carbon tax! It already in place in some select places of the world by existing governments.

Well, given the corruption we know is inherit in the system. This anime is pointing towards a particular scenario that could play out like that where the changes that are made to improve life are used ultimately to push down the people. I think that's pretty close to the definition of corruption.

Thank you for being redundant Fathamburger!

You're very much welcome.

Alright just answered Jacks question.. Now on to yours.. What just happened was Kuniko just found out that her mother is the one that founded Atlas... Or it could of been her grandma... They weren't entirely clear.. But the jist of it is that her grandma and her mother helped Atlas get started.. And Kuniko is mad because now she doesnt know which side to support..
