Does anyone else have the creepy feeling that Yuuki is actually dead, Mirai's hallucinating that he's alive and Mari is just humouring her out of pity? I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, but since it didn't I guess that's not the case. It'd be bad form finding that out in another episode, wouldn't it?

To further my "Yuuki is dead" theory, what legal documents would Mari be needing or waiting for? Is it simply for Yuuki's treatments, or something more... depressing? Also when Mari went back to their sleeping post and found the kids weren't there, she only yelled out for Mirai. She always yells out for the two kids when they've gone missing. Also, when she found the "two" kids, it seemed to me she only acknowledged Mirai. Did she ever acknowledge Yuuki? Does Mirai carry Yuuki's bag because she's being a good big sister, or because Yuuki isn't there to carry it? Also, Mirai seems more and more morose during the trip to where she lives, and she isn't positive at all when telling Mirai she's called her parents. Also, she says, "And for Yuuki I'll"... before Mirai interrupts her. She'll what? If she left Yuuki's body behind, they'll have to make arraignments, right? This is the only time Mirai mentions Yuuki by name, and she doesn't look at him. Because he isn't actually there?

Finally, the end of Episode 7 had the announcer saying something like, "The casualties of the earthquake continue to amount." A clear statement, and the timing of that statement strongly suggests that Yuuki is such a casualty.

Oh, and I just noticed that in the FINAL frames, Yuuki is nowhere to be found in the scene. I'm sorry, but that kid is toast.

Hey, I'll be happy to be wrong, but all signs so far point to Yuuki not having made it. If I'm wrong, I'll be the happiest to be so. But I'm telling you, I can sense it.

Uh... do spoiler tags work on the new site? I tried to access the FAQ but it doesn't work..

I was thinking some of these things too. The ones that really stuck out was Mari only calling Mirai, leaving the message for her parents, and the final scene as the camera pulls away. Also, the part when they are waiting outside the surgery room seems to long for it to be a dream. I don't know. We'll see. I hope he's alive though.

Great ep. Surprisingly stunning on how they moved the plot... what ot believe... the best scene for me was when she was waiting and looked down and clasped her hands.... we all can relate to the anguished wait.....thanks AC for posting..

Rockpopple: I was thinking the same about the documants but I never thought about the rest of it. Yuuki has "died" like 6 or 7 times now... They really need to stop killing him and just let him live, but it could be possible he's dead and Mirai is just supressing it and imagining he is there... but I really want Yuuki to be alive... Mari always seems depressed after talking to Mirai.

this show is depressing a lot of the time.. but really great

I love this anime. So dramatic. It shows how possible human to react when faced with anxiety, depression and stress. Even in normal daily lives (without any disaster) I've seen people react like that. Imagine a worse situation.

I do agree that Yuuki might be dead for real. She might just ended up having Schizophrenia due to the depression of losing her brother. At first, I thought that she's still dreaming after waking up in the tent. Then again, there's only two bedsheets. But let us just wish that it's just our imagination and Yuuki is still alive. Optimistically, that paperwork might just be his medical report or something similar. And she's only sober due to worry of her family.

Can't hardly wait for next episode.

Oh man, I really hope he isn't dead. Yuuki..... :(

What an amazing show though, it's definitely one of my favourite animes ever.
